Former Superdry boss Julian Dunkerton has said he will call an extraordinary general meeting of the company’s shareholders in the next four weeks in a bid to return to the company.

Dunkerton, who co-founded the business, has been campaigning to return to the company, after a string of profit warnings and a calamitous drop in its share price.

According to the Sunday Times, Dunkerton said he would call a shareholder meeting in the next four weeks to vote on his return.

Before Christmas it was reported that Dunkerton was working with advisers over plans which included launching a shareholder meeting.

The report said that as well as voting on his return, shareholders could be asked to jettison Superdry’s chief executive Euan Sutherland and its chairman Peter Bamford.

Dunkerton owns 18 per cent of the retailer, which is worth a third of what it was this time last year.

He is also reported to have approached private equity firms to explore taking Superdry private.

Dunkerton could not be reached for comment and Superdry declined to comment.
