House on the Southern Rail network? Here’s how property values have changed over the last three months

The Southern Rail debacle has been raising the blood pressure of many commuters into the square mile every day.

Late to work, late back home has become a common routine and with three more blocks of industrial action, and no end in sight to the current deadlock, the future looks bleak.

As if this wasn't enough, new research suggests that over the last three months, house prices at stations on the line have been adversely affected.

As used to be said on the news about the football results: if you don't want to know the score, look away now…

Win and lose

During the last 12 months, average house prices have actually risen across most of the line. Unfortunately this is where the good news stops.

Over the last three months, while average house prices across the country have climbed by 1.7 per cent, most house prices across the Southern network have fallen. Thousands have been wiped off the values of commuters' abodes.

Here's how some of the main commuter towns have fared in percentage terms:

Now the stats get rather ugly. Here are the top 10 worst affected towns in terms of the amount that has been eroded from average values in the area:
