Team GB pair Jason Kenny and Laura Trott’s attempts to underline their status as track cycling’s golden couple are among the highlights in prospect at the Rio Olympics on Tuesday.

Kenny is looking to claim his third Olympic gold medal of these Games and a sixth of his career in the men’s keirin, which concludes at 10:15pm, while fiancee Trott can win her second of Rio 2016 and a fourth overall by defending her omnium title.

The final race is around 9pm, while there could be further British medals in the women’s sprint finals at 9.45pm.

Also seeking further success is Jack Laugher, who won 3m synchro springboard gold with Chris Mears last week and goes in the individual event today. Semi-finals start at 2pm and the final at 10pm.

In the open water, Britain’s Jack Burnell takes on the men’s 10km from 1pm, while sailor Giles Scott is set to receive the gold medal he guaranteed on Sunday when the Finn concludes at 5pm.

British medal hopes in track and field rest on Robbie Grabarz and Chris Baker in the men’s high jump, which starts at 12:30am on Wednesday, Laura Muir in the women’s 1,500m final (2.30am) and Andrew Pozzi in the men’s 110m hurdles final (2.45am).

Highly-regarded Croydon boxer Joshua Buatsi could reach the final of the men’s light heavyweight competition when he meets Kazakhstan’s Adilbek Niyazymbetov at 10:40pm.

Finally, gymnastics doyenne Simone Biles could claim her fourth gold of the Games in the women’s floor from 6.45pm.
