Arsene Wenger describes transfer fees as “scary” but still wants “one more” attacking player at Arsenal
Arsene Wenger has admitted the scale of transfer spending in the Premier League has reached "scary" levels, but maintains Arsenal are on the hunt for a new attacking player.
Following the Gunners' 2-1 pre-season victory over the MLS All Stars in San Jose, Wenger suggested his side was currently light in forward areas.
Arsenal have already failed in attempts to bring strikers Jamie Vardy and Alexandre Lacazette after the latter opted to stay at Leicester while Lyon rejected a £29m bid for Lacazette.

Premier League clubs are expected to smash past £1bn in total player expenditure by the end of this transfer window but even with Manchester United expected to spend over £100m on Paul Pogba, Wenger believes football's insatiable hunger for big money transfers shows no sign of abating.
"I personally believe that no matter what you do, it's never enough," he said.
"In the Premier League, every club is hugely ambitious. With the cheques that everybody signs, it's quite scary. But I believe we know what we have to do."
Arsenal sealed victory against the MLS All Stars thanks to goals from Joel Campbell and 20-year-old Chuba Akpom who spent last season on loan at Hull City.
Wenger is targeting further attacking reinforcements so he does not have to rely on youngsters to bail out the team once the Premier League season starts.
"I have, at the moment, not too many attacking options of experienced players," he explained.
"Let's not forget that we still have a few players who didn't play today like [Santi] Cazorla. And of course we have [Mesut] Ozil and [Aaron] Ramsey at home. And [Olivier] Giroud is not here.
"So we have options, but we still look outside to find more."
