Argentine striker Mauro Icardi has underlined his intention stay at Inter Milan despite reported interest in his signature from Arsenal.

The 23-year-old has been the subject of transfer discussions between his agent and wife Wanda Nara and Arsenal, according to reports in the Italian press.

Nara has travelled to London for negotiations with the Gunners who are still searching for a new striker after Jamie Vardy turned down a £20m move.

Yet Inter captain Icardi, who has scored 52 goals in three seasons at the San Siro, has hinted it would take an extraordinary offer to tempt him to move from Milan.

"I'm here and I'm happy here, I say that all the time," he told Il Corriere dello Sport.

"I have a contract with Inter until 2019 and they're my team. For everything else, it's the club that has to speak. I'm working to improve my game, to play well and provide options for the coach.

"My entire family's objective is to stay in Milan. I never concealed the fact that I'm happy in this city, as are Wanda and the children. Milan is our home, and that's why she's in talks with the club. We're trying to find a solution."

Icardi signed a new four-year contract last summer and the club are adamant that only a huge offer could prompt them to sell him this summer.

However, in the same interview the speedy striker admitted that "anything can happen" in football.

"Me wearing other colours? I'll tell you the truth, I'm an Interista. Very much an Interista," the player nicknamed canito — the firework — said. This is the team I'm a fan of and these are my colours. There's a strong bond.

"Football is a business and anything can happen, but I'm wearing the captain's arm-band for Inter, I've been here three years and my objective is to win as a Nerazzurro. I want to make it."
