London-based crowdfunding company Seedrs has expanded its international presence with a new office in Amsterdam.

The commercial team, which will target the Benelux – Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg – is Seedrs’ first to be placed on the ground outside of the UK. The platform said it intends to open more offices in the “near future”.

The launch comes after Seedrs was granted an EU-wide Financial Services Passport by the UK Financial Conduct Authority on 13 July.

Seedrs, which does already have a software development office in Portugal, has previously funded one Belgian company – Maily, an email platform for children. And in October last year it announced a new partnership with Benelux-based bank ING.

As part of the Benelux move, Dutch entrepreneur David Mozes has joined the team as regional manager for the region. Mozes started his career as an investment banker and co-founded light-as-a-service company LED Lease.

He said: “I am thrilled to be joining Seedrs, which has firmly established its place at the leading equity crowdfunding platform in Europe. Having both been an entrepreneur and worked in finance, I have a strong sense of what is needed to make an early-stage investment platform successful in the Benelux.”

Jeff Lynn, chief executive and co-founder of Seedrs, said: “We have always had a pan-European vision for Seedrs, and the launch of our Amsterdam office brings that vision one step closer to reality.”
