As investors look to gold as a safe haven in the aftermath of Brexit, Randgold chief exec Mark Bristow lives on the wild side by motorbiking across Africa

As the pound's value continues to drop Investors have been looking to gold as a safe haven since the referendum on Thursday.

Mining may be a safe bet for now, but one risk-taking exec in the industry prefers to live on the wild side as he wraps up his motorbike tour of Africa.

Randgold Resources chief executive Mark Bristow’s fundraising motorbike safari from the east to west across mid-Africa has entered its final leg with his team having arrived in Kinshasa on Sunday.

Bristow has a little more than 500 kilometres to go before reaching the end of his ride which will have seen him cover more than 8 000 kilometres from Mombassa to Muanda in just under a month.

The mining boss, who has already put himself through three death-defying tours across the continent, said that this one was his most challenging yet.

Bristow has motorbiked through more than 20 countries in Africa, and is expected to arrive in the Democratic Republic of Congo soon.

Bristow is expected at the mouth of the river Congo soon.
