Six-time Olympic champion Usain Bolt intends to use his latest visit to the capital as a stepping stone to Rio de Janeiro gold after confirming he will contest the 200m at this year’s London Anniversary Games.

The 29-year-old Jamaican holds the 200m world record with a time of 19.19 seconds and will line up at the Olympic Stadium on 22 July, a matter of weeks before the start of the Rio Games on 5 August.

“The London Anniversary Games will be one of my last races before Rio and running in the 200m will hopefully set me up for a successful Olympic Games,” said Bolt.

European 200m champion Adam Gemili will race against Bolt, as will fellow Briton Zharnel Hughes, who came fifth in last year’s World Championship.
