Global drinks giant Diageo has confirmed it will launch a new whisky from its House of Haig range later this year with David Beckham once again fronting its brand campaign.

The new Haig brand is expected to be appeal to younger drinkers and will be cheaper than the previous Haig Club brand that Beckham fronted for the company in 2014.

At a cost of £45 per bottle, the single grain whisky drew criticism, and did little to boost the company's sales.

"After the successful launch of Haig Club, we are excited to be introducing an outstanding new whisky to the House of Haig," a spokesperson for Diageo said.

"Just as the House of Haig has done over its almost 400 year history, we look forward to expanding the line and presenting the newest expression of Haig whisky to the world. Diageo looks forward to launching alongside our brand partner David Beckham later in the year, with full details to be shared closer to launch."

The House of Haig is Scotland's oldest grain whisky dynasty.
