iOS 9.3 update: Apple Night Shift will help you sleep better – and iPhone and iPad users can get it right now

Among Apple's big new product announcements, there's one small but super-useful feature that most iPhone users can take advantage of without having to by a new smartphone.

Be prepared to get a better nights sleep with Night Shift, a creative little invention which means your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch will adjust its screen when it starts to get dark. That's all thanks to geolocation and your clock settings.

Available with the latest operating system update, iOS 9.3, which is available right now, when the sun sets, the screen displays warmer tones than the blue light usually displayed and which is known to disrupt sleep.

"Many studies have shown that exposure to bright blue light in the evening can affect your circadian rhythms and make it harder to fall asleep. Night Shift uses your iOS device’s clock and geolocation to determine when it’s sunset in your location, then it automatically shifts the colors in your display to the warmer end of the spectrum.1 In the morning, it returns the display to its regular settings. Pleasant dreams," Apple said of the feature.
