Customers love the Apple Watch, said Apple chief Tim Cook, as he revealed new bands and colour ways – alongside a surprise price drop of its newest device.

The starting price of the Watch will now be $299 (£259). That's $50- less than the original price of the lowest entry model, the Sport.

There will be a new woven nylon band for those who want to switch up their watch and several new colours for a "spring line-up".

"About a third of our Apple Watch wearers regularly change the bands," said Cook, at the launch of a host of products, including the iPhone SE.

The nylon band gives a nice summer stripe vibe and starts at $49 (£39) individually. There are seven colours and two sizes.

That expands the 38 different styles which were originally available when the smartwatch first launched nearly a year ago.

Other new colours include a yellow, a teal-y blue and a redish stone in the leather style.
