Balderton’s bosses languish at the bottom of the venture capital firm’s fantasy football league

Like it or not, football is an integral part of day-to-day office life, and sometimes even good work can be overshadowed by a poor performance in the office-wide fantasy football league.

Such is the case at venture capital firm Balderton Capital, where two of the firm's newest partners are having their names dragged through the mud by colleagues for languishing at the bottom of the company's fantasy football league table.

Robert Moffat and James Wise were both promoted to partners at the firm at the start of the year, but their respective teams Real Madras and North of the Wall are stuck at the bottom of the seven-team league.

Ben Goldsmith, Balderton's PR at the top of the league with his team Dog and Duck earning a total 1,397 points so far, was only too keen to let the Capitalist know what the firm's partners and business chiefs get up to in their free time.

"We started it at the beginning of this season. It's close at the top, but Rob and James' tawdry performance so far doesn't bode well considering they've only both been in their new roles since January. Maybe their new positions are getting in the way of training."

In second place is digital start-up Tapdaq co-founder Dom Bracher, who's team In Arsene We Trust is just five points behind Goldsmith's side.
