Police are investigating after bomb threats were made to three schools in the West Midlands this morning.

The schools –  Holly Lodge, Bristnall Hall and Oldbury Academy – were all in Sandwell and were evacuated after calls were received between 9am and 9:30am this morning.

A school in Dudley was also affected.

Some institutions took the independent decision to evacuate students. All are safe and being cared for as usual by staff, police confirmed.

West Midlands police are working with the schools and Sandwell Council to find the person or people responsible.

The Harry Mitchell Centre in Broomfield, Smethwick, has been opened for children who have had to leave school and aren’t able to get home, Sandwell Council said this morning.

Youth workers have also been deployed in the area to assist any children getting home or to the Harry Mitchell Centre.
