WHEN will this trend of making pop-up beaches in office courtyards end? This summer has seen beaches inexplicably appearing all over London’s financial districts, from Canary Wharf’s beach volleyball to Finsbury Park’s beach rugby today.

Now even office estates out in the sticks are catching on. What have you done!?

West London’s Chiswick Park is now home to its very own pop-up beach, and nine-to-fivers in the area have all been working together to build a sand sculpture in the shape of a pirate ship.

▀ If you haven’t already, it’s time to sign your business up to City Giving Day and win a visit from the Lord Mayor. Any company registering for the Lord Mayor’s City Giving Day before midnight today will go into a prize draw for a personal visit from the man himself. Companies across the City will join together on 30th September to celebrate giving in all its forms; the City’s outreach and the achievements of the charities each business supports. Do it. Do it now.

▀ Canary Wharf is probably the last place you’d expect to see flocks of students shuffling about. Well that’s all about to change, as One Canada Square is set to open its doors to UCL’s School of Management from next year. UCL today unveiled its new School of Management, replacing the existing Department of Management Science and Innovation. The tallest building in the financial district is also home to businesses like Trinity Mirror Group. The Central London uni will be taking up residence on the 38th floor and open to students from September 2016. Students will be put through their paces by ex-UCL alumni working in the financial district, including global chairman at KPMG Jeremy Anderson.
