Apple launched its mobile payment service, Apple Pay, in the UK in its first mobile payment move beyond the US, capitalising on the boom in mobile and contactless payments among consumers.

iPhone 6 and 6 Plus users can now pay with just the tap of a smartphone, or Apple Watch, across the high street and on the London Underground with a host of retailers, restaurants, apps and banks on board, and more than 250,000 spots across the country accepting the new way to pay.

Here's every major retailer where you'll be able to pay with Apple Pay. We'll be updating the list as and when beyond those already revealed. With 2.6m contactless terminals across Europe, there will be many smaller, independent ad local businesses deciding to accept Apple Pay too.

Those with American Express, Mastercard or Visa will be able to use Apple Pay, if banking with HSBC, NatWest, Nationwide, Royal Bank of Scotland, Santander, Ulster Bank, Bank of Scotland, , Halifax, Lloyds, MBNA, M&S Bank, TSB and Tesco Bank.

TSB and Tesco have now also started supporting Apple Pay.

Those with Coutts will be able to start using the service from the autumn, however Barclays customers wil have to wait until early in 2016.

While there was inititally a £20 limit on the majority of transactions, a a selection of retailers will be accepting high-value transactions, Visa Europe has said (those marked with *).

Since the standard limit was upped to £30, many more retailers (though not all) accept the higher limit.
