THE CHINESE state-owned construction firm behind numerous landmark buildings in the Middle East such as the Al Hikma Tower has been named as one of the preferred bidders to build the £550m One Nine Elms scheme in Battersea.

A joint venture between China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) and London-listed Interserve, named CI-ONE Construction, was selected by Chinese developer Dalian Wanda.

Interserve said it expects the project will create around 800 new jobs, and boss Adrian Ringrose said: “We look forward to working with Wanda and CSCEC and putting our expertise to use on this prestigious development, one of the largest and most exciting urban regeneration projects in Europe.”
