Housebuilding and construction group Galliford Try has been chosen as the preferred developer by the Greater London Authority to build the Silvertown Way development.

Located in Canning Town, East London with over 1,100 mixed tenure homes across 11 blocks, the gross development comes to a hefty £360m, ranking it as the largest standalone scheme Galliford Try has ever embarked on.

The project will be delivered by three Galliford Try companies: Linden Homes, Galliford Try Partnerships and Galliford Try infrastructure. Furthermore, the development will include a hotel, restaurant and commercial space.

Galliford Try chief Executive Greg Fitzgerald commented:

We are delighted to have been selected for both these schemes which underline our strong relationship with the GLA and HCA. These schemes are testament to the combined resources of the group and our proven expertise in regeneration and affordable housing projects.

In addition to the Silvertown development, Galliford Try had more reason to celebrate thanks to being chosen as the preferred bidder for a 210-home regeneration scheme in Bristol. The scheme boasts a gross development value of £40m.

Earlier this month the company won two affordable housing deals in London and Middlesbrough.
